Tar Heel Libertarian - May 2024

Volume 3, Issue 19 | May 2024

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." -Thomas Jefferson

In this Issue...

We have got quite the newsletter for you this month. Ryan reflects on sacrifice, here in the party and on a much grander scale. I give you me take on a wild convention weekend, and then we get another perspective from guest writer Ben Weir. We feature several of our candidates in candidate spotlight and LP in NC - Mike Ross, Steve Feldman, Gheorghe Cormos, Bob Drach (twice), Ryan Brown, and Joshua Glawson. And we let you know about a couple upcoming events - one today and one in June - in Happenings.

We have a guest artist with some amazing Liberty comics in Art by Karla, and longtime Liberty warrior David Hoesly tells us about finally completing a Liberty project he had worked on for decades. We have another article from Money Metal Exchange talking about a bill that was introduced this month to end federal taxation on gold and silver. And Mises Club Carolina put out a call for anyone who wants to attend their August weekend getaway. Every single one of their events has been amazing, I highly recommend going if you can.

And this month we have all the familiar articles that get the most positive feedback from our readers. Justin has a challenge to the gun community in 2A talks. Liberty Babes gives us another insane AI Liberty warrior and a poignant quote to go with it. And Trevor reflects on the dangers and hypocrisy of NC body camera laws in Trevor's Takes. Enjoy

Pints and Politics May 30 - Rise of the Third Parties

Libertarian Party of North Carolina Governor Candidate and State Chair to Sit on Inter-Party Panel

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 30, 2024 (RALEIGH) – The Libertarian Party of North Carolina (LPNC) is excited to announce that, this evening, our Governor candidate, Mike Ross, and our State Chair, Ryan Brown, will both represent the LPNC at Rise of the Third Parties, a panel hosted by Pints and Politics.

The event, which will be held from 6-9 PM at Edit Beer Co., 1911 Sego Ct,, Raleigh, NC, features representatives from several political parties in North Carolina, including the LPNC, represented by Brown, as well as the Forward Party, the Veterans Party, the We the People Party, the Green Party, the Constitution Party, the Republican Party, and the Democrat Party.

According to Pints and Politics founder Chad Stall, who organized the event, "Pints and Politics is about coming together and having down to earth conversations about things we agree and disagree on.

"Ultimately, the goal is clear. We all share this great country. There is no reason why we, the people, must fight and suffer while so many are enriched at our expense. A Republic that refuses representation is no longer a Republic... There is space to find consensus. If we want to preserve our well-being and freedoms, we will have to find it."

Ross will open the event with five minutes to introduce himself to the audience and talk about his campaign and platform, and then will take Q&A to close the event. During the discussion, each party will have a chance to present its platform and reflect on the meaning of the phrase "We the People" and the word "Freedom."

The event will be livestreamed by Stephen Horn, independent, investigative journalist who runs This Week in the Triangle, and is known for his coverage of the lockdown protests in Raleigh as well as for uncovering potential election fraud in NC by ActBlue.

Tar Heel Libertarian - April 2024

Volume 3, Issue 18 | April 2024

"I hold it to be the inalienable right of anybody to go to hell in his own way." -Robert Frost

In this Issue...

Fools, eclipses, playoffs, drafts... April has it all, including lots in the political world. Starting with a bunch of freedom-hating traitors who voted to empower the federal government to spy on you without a warrant while giving themselves an exemption, followed by the ongoing protests at universities around our state, and capped off with a tragic shootout in Charlotte, this has been a wild month, and we have you covered.

Same as last month, I am getting to this late, and I am still looking for help with writing, editing, and HTML. The newsletter is top notch this month, though. Ryan starts us off reflecting on why we fight for Liberty. I give my thoughts on how the violence in my home city of Charlotte could have been avoided. The LPNC adopts a position on foreign wars, with a paper written by Steve Feldman and Phil Jacobson.

In Candidate's Corner, Shannon Bray, Gheorghe Cormos, and Matthew Kordon opine on the Sheetz lawsuit, the FISA vote failure by NC reps, and the nature of our responsibilities as Libertarians. Joshua Glawson continues his recent string of insightful articles, looking at ways for candidates to raise all-important funds. And first-time Tar Heel contributor Todd Pukanecz reflects on working the polls, something the LPNC is sorely lacking.

We round things off with a new Liberty Babes and a myriad examples of LP in NC. Enjoy!

Tar Heel Libertarian - March 2024

Volume 3, Issue 16 | March 2024

“I am an extreme individual doing extreme things.” - GG Allin

In this Issue...

We are just squeezing in the March edition of the Tar Heel Libertarian with minutes to spare, and I apologize for that. This month has been busy with non-politics stuff. Along those lines, if you would like to submit content, we could use it, and if you are interested in assisting with editing, especially if you have basic HTML experience or are interested in learning, I could really use the help. -Rob

Happy Easter! This month, Ryan talks about Easter and March Madness, including the madness of continuing to support the uniparty. Rob delves into the latest iteration of the culture wars, and how it is a strategic distraction. James Higgins talks about his journey to realizing he is a Libertarian, looking for others to work with in our quest for Liberty.

We meet NC Senate District 12 candidate Christopher Sessions. Joshua Glawson changes it up, giving us his five favorite cities in NC, Rob gives us another book review, and Trevor Miles wraps things up with a condemnation of zoning laws in Trevor's Takes. Enjoy!
