The Greater Smithfield-Selma Area Chamber of Commerce will host a debate for candidates for the 7th Congressional District Thursday, October 16 at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall at Johnston Community College in Smithfield. Invited candidates include: Republican David Rouzer, Democrat Jonathan Barfield, Jr. and Libertarian J. Wesley Casteen.

Chamber Board Chair Keith Dimsdale will moderate. The debate format will be simple. Each candidate will make opening remarks, then will be asked a series of questions submitted in advance on various issues that pertain to Johnston County and the 7th Congressional District. The candidates will then make closing remarks.

The debate is free and open to the public.
