Execomm Elections Coming Soon


A great way to get involved with the Libertarian Party of North Carolina (LPNC) is to serve on the Executive Committee. Execomm members serve two-year terms, and will be elected at the state convention coming up in Charlotte, tentatively set for May 3, 1997. (see the next issue of Tarheel Libertarian for full details on the convention)

The Execomm is made up of 13 members. Currently, there are eight officers (Chair, Vice-Chair, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Editor of the Tarheel Libertarian, Press Secretary, and Ballot Access Coordinator). A new position, Fundraising and Outreach Coordinator, was created at the 1996 convention, and will be filled for the first time this year. This leaves four seats for members at large. The committee meets roughly every six weeks to conduct the business of the LPNC.

Each executive committe member is expected to attend executive committe meetings, or to have another executive committee member represent him or her by proxy. Each officer is expected to present an officer report. Additional responsibilities for each position in the executive committee are as follows:
