
New Officers Elected at State Convention
The Libertarian Party of North Carolina held its annual state
convention last month in Charlotte. Libertarians from all over the
state gathered for party business, political speeches and fun. Noted
speakers were three presidential candidate hopefuls, including Gary
Nolan, a nationally syndicated radio talk show host, Michael Badnarik,
a consitutional scholar, and Judge Jim Gray, a Superior Court judge
and author. Rachel Mills, Jennifer Medlock, and Tara Grubb, three of
the Ladies of Liberty featured in this year's pinup calendar, shared
experiences from the campaign trail. Dr. Mary Ruwart, author of
Healing Our World and Dr. Jim Lark, former National Chair of the
Libertarian Party addressed the Convention as well.
The party conducted official business making several changes to the
LPNC bylaws and Constitution and also elected a new Executive
Committee. The new Executive Committee includes Chair, Barbara Howe
of Oxford, Vice-Chair R. Lee Wrights of Winston-Salem, Recording
Secretary Beverly Wilcox of Wentworth, Treasurer Renee Montague of
Goldston, Press Secretary Rachel Mills of Durham, Political Director
Mike Dixon of Charlotte, Membership Secretary Timothy Woodcock of
Raleigh, Director of Newsletter Publication Mike Owen of Durham,
Outreach Director Jim Pitts of Sanford, Ballot Access Director Dave
Goree of Asheville, Webmaster Tom Howe of Oxford. Tom Bailey of
Greensboro, Kevin Fortner of Winston-Salem, Frederick Blackburn of
Goldston, and Thomas Hill of Concord were elected as members-at-large.
Stephen Burr of Charlotte, Mike Ruff of Greenville, Jennifer Medlock
of Greensboro, Richard Norman of Winston-Salem, and Seth Fehrs of
Hillsborough were elected as members of the LPNC Judiciary Committee.
